Solid colognes have become increasingly more popular in recent years due to their easy application and portability. These colognes come packaged in a small tin and can easily be tucked into a pocket.  Many of the solid colognes are made from natural ingredients like shea butter, fruit oils and beeswax. Others consist of synthetic ingredients, in which the scent lasts longer.

The cologne is applied by gently rubbing onto the skin at the pulse points, the neck, wrist or chest.  Like spray cologne, the scent is activated by the warmth of the body and blends with the natural musk of the wearer.

Solid colognes are especially popular with men because they are great for travel.  There are no TSA restrictions on them and can be packed in your carry-on luggage. Unlike colognes/aftershave that can be excessively used, solid colognes scents tend to be milder. By forcing you to apply a small potion to the pulse points, it is difficult to smell too strongly.

Most aftershaves contain alcohol, which may cause skin irritation.  Natural solid cologne does not contain alcohol or water, instead, only moisturizing ingredients such as shea butter and essential oils.

On the other hand, most solid colognes lasts two to four hours, which is longer than cheaper aftershaves but does not last as long as more expensive eau de perfume. 

There is a limited number of solid colognes on the market, but many companies are constantly developing with new fragrances.
